Tanhe Fm

The type section is located at south of Tanghe Village of Wuxu Town, Nanning City. The name was proposed by Wu et al. in 1987 without description of section and was unaccepted in the 2000 Devonian Lexicon (in Chinese). In view of the consideration of its lithological features and stratigraphic position the formation should be accepted. Unfortunately, this section is not protected owing to large scale city constructions.

Siliceous. It is homogeneous in the lithology characterized by the thin bedded, 1-2 cm thick for single bed, yellow brown, gray, black siliceous rocks with chert bands. The formation reaches a thickness of approximately 150 m in the holostratotype.

Dacryoconarids Nowakia holyensis, N. rechteri, N. sulcata and brachiopods, sponge spicules, etc.

It is interpreted as a basin with quiet water environment.
